Emerson Compliance Engineer in Marshalltown, Iowa
The Codes and Standards Compliance Engineer is responsible for Fisher Valves product certification as well as product compliance to such standards. This technical role provides a key interface with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and third-party approval agencies. As an extension of this role, the employee will be responsible to serve as a member of codes and standards organizations related to the control valve and pressure vessel industry. Position located in Marshalltown, IA. Relocation assistance provided for successful out of state candidate.
As the Codes and Standards Compliance Engineer, you will:
Perform an analysis of product design with respect to industry standards when requested
Provide interpretations related to code and specific construction details
Become expertly proficient in ASME B16.34 code
Guide preparation of drawings, tags, and other documents
Manage certification projects including from start to finish from: document pack, design files, and payment for approvals
Regularly communicate status of certifications to stakeholders
Support internal and external audits
Schedule internal and external testing to generate compliance data when required
Monitor changes to standards and execute strategies to maintain compliance
Serve on standards committees internal and external to company
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering in one of the following, or closely related, disciplines: Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, or Nuclear
A minimum of 5 years of industrial product experience is required
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Project management experience is preferred
Experience with third-party approval agencies is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read and interpret drawings and mechanical schematics
Confidently influential with all levels in areas of subject matter expertise
Working understanding of components for the purpose of understanding impact on reliability or part function
Strong capacity to plan, schedule, track, progress, and communicate status on multiple projects at a single time
Must be pro-active in communicating accurate, technical information with entities both internal and external to the company
Capable and willing to challenge business decisions with stakeholders including upper management
Must know how to appropriately handle sensitive information
