Emerson Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Marshalltown, Iowa

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead and oversee the engineering team responsible for enhancing and sustaining manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical and strategic part in managing complex manufacturing operations, driving innovation, operational excellence, and prioritizing safety. The focus will be on optimizing production efficiency, ensuring high product quality, managing engineering projects, and integrating new technologies. The manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality, safety, and supply chain, to achieve organizational objectives, promote continuous improvement, and maintain a safe working environment as a top priority.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Process Optimization & Improvement:

  • Lead the development and improvement of manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.

  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges, enhance throughput and improve workplace safety

  • Team Management & Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and support staff.

  • Provide technical guidance and direction.

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and safety.

  • Project Management:

  • Plan and implement engineering projects related to product launches, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.

  • Establish project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.

  • Ensure timely and successful completion of projects, adhering to safety, quality, and cost constraints.

  • New Technology Implementation:

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and innovations.

  • Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure that manufacturing processes follow organizational standards, industry regulations, and safety guidelines.

  • Work closely with the quality department to reduce defects and ensure product quality.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with production, quality, supply chain, and Business Units to align engineering activities with business objectives.

  • Communicate project updates, process improvements, and production issues to senior leadership

  • Dealing with Ambiguity & Problem Solving:

  • Navigate and lead effectively in situations where processes, information, or goals are unclear, adapting to shifting priorities and making informed decisions amidst uncertainty.

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by proactively identifying challenges, analyzing data, and implementing innovative solutions to complex manufacturing and engineering issues.

  • Foster a culture of resilience and flexibility within the team, encouraging creative approaches to ambiguous situations.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related experience.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with CAD software, automation systems, and manufacturing technologies.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management.

  • Experience in high-mix or high complex manufacturing environments.
