Job Description

The Iowa Veterans Home is looking to fill a Purchasing Agent 2 to assist the state. The successful candidate selected for the Purchasing Agent 2 will be responsible for administering the Iowa Veterans Home purchasing program.

The individual will review and evaluate all departmental purchase requests and lead strategies and initiatives to determine best practices with state and federal contracts, targeted small businesses, and personal service agreements.

The position requires advanced skills in critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem solving. Advanced skills in Excel is preferred.

The individual will need to obtain and maintain advanced procurement authority status.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school, or G.E.D., and six years of full-time work in the procurement of technical, standardized, expendable and non-expendable items;

OR

graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business or public administration, accounting or economics and two years of the required experience;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of education (30 semester hours or one year) for each year of the required experience;

OR

employees withcurrentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to eighteen months as a Purchasing Agent 1.
