Strategic Sourcing Specialist
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, and services in accordance with departmental and company goals. This Specialist identifies and qualifies new suppliers for materials and products unavailable or non-competitive in the existing supply chain to drive continuous improvement, and provide for overall company mission success. Will also act as a specialist in an assigned market category, which emphasizes a degree of technical knowledge and familiarity in that market.
To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:
A bachelor's degree in business administration is required. Preference will be given to those with a specialty in Supply Chain.
Two year's relevant work experience in procurement to include effective communication in a multi-departmental and/or geographically diverse team. Minimum of one year experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and general data entry.
Certified Purchasing Manager, Certified Purchasing and Supply Management , or Certified in Production and Inventory Management preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (minimum required):
Knowledge of current methods and best practices for strategic sourcing and unique raw material or manufacturing process source research, identification, qualification, and selection, including Boolean internet searches, use of social media, networking, and other industry resources.
Ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport through effective communication in any form with people of diverse backgrounds, cultural requirements, responsibilities, and skillsets.
Ability to manage multiple, diverse projects of varying complexities simultaneously.
Ability to effectively read and understand part blueprints, design specifications, mil-specs, and other technical documents.
Ability to become proficient in use of Syteline, with support and input from I.T. or other departments.
Solid understanding and ability to adjust to current methods and best practices for strategic sourcing, buying, and planning.
Proven negotiation skills with an emphasis on cost savings.
Extremely ethical at all times and demonstrates the highest level of personal integrity.

Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills.
Proficient with computers and office equipment with an intermediate-level of proficiency using Microsoft Office applications ( such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).
Able to sit for extended periods of time while conducting work on computer workstations, including mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
Able to communicate via phone, e-mail, video, or in person with a variety of stakeholders.
Able to drive and fly long distances, including overnight, and use all forms of public transportation when applicable.
Able to constantly move about manufacturing facilities or offices.
Able to operate standard office machines.

Attends conferences, trade shows, sebinars, and webinars to stay current on assigned markets' global offerings and condition, and shares learnings within the market-centric teams and raw material categories as needed.
Employs comprehensive vetting/qualification and communication practices to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and supply chain stability and improvement requirements are met.
Employs effective negotiation techniques, including market knowledge, to secure the best value on new materials and components.
Travels, sometimes overnight, to the manufacturing plants, supplier or customer facilities, and industry shows/conferences as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Crosstrains to provide backup assistance for all Procurement functions.
Maintains a clean and neat work area.
