University of Iowa Community Credit Union Account Resolution Portfolio Risk Analyst in North Liberty, Iowa

Position Summary

Responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that will drive strategic initiatives and support key business objectives. The Portfolio Risk Analyst will take a lead role in in developing and maintaining robust reporting and analytics, metrics and key performance indicators while also providing in-depth analysis and recommendations for improving/enhancing line of business performance and effective risk management.

Salary range for this position is $90,593.36 - $121,250.74/YR with a progressive benefit package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to state, federal and credit union regulations, policies and guidelines.

  • Maintains knowledge of Credit Union products and services.

  • Responsible for reporting, monitoring, analyzing, including identification of potential emerging trends related to our loan portfolio and collections.

  • Become a subject matter expert for the business unit by developing a comprehensive understanding of how the department’s strategies, data, and systems work together for the benefit of our stakeholders and members.

  • Leads data management, analytics, and business intelligence functions for the department.

  • Responsible for the development of reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to identify trends in the business, track results/performance and support business strategies and development.

  • Supports data collection and report creation for Charge Off Review Meeting, Credit Committee, month end analysis and results.

  • Maintains current understanding of portfolio credit risk topics, including general economic conditions, industry trends, and product specific issues.

  • Analyze, interpret, and translate performance and financial results for the department and management.

  • Provides support and assistance during internal, state, and federal audits and examinations.

  • Aids in reporting analytics to the SVP, Account Resolutions, VP, Account Resolutions, Finance, and Credit Administration.

  • Evaluate established reporting and provide recommendations for automation, efficiencies and/or effective delivery channels.

  • Works with Account Resolution Operational Support roles to identify gaps in system/operations process flows ensuring alignment of strategy/intent, execution, policies, state legalities, and regulatory guidelines as it relates to collection activities.

  • Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to dissect complex datasets, aiming to understand the performance and drivers for losses across various products.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive analytical models to assess the impact of different factors on product performance and financial outcomes.

  • Monitor and track vendor performance against established metrics, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), identifying areas for improvement, and providing regular updates to management.

  • Develop and maintain accurate and insightful reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to collections, including delinquency rates, recovery rates, RPC and other productivity metrics.

  • Monitoring staff performance, tracking delinquency and charge-off trends, and reporting insights for strategic decision-making.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience of at least six years of portfolio reporting and analytics experience.

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in collections with consumer and/or commercial loans and products, demonstrating a deep understanding of regulations, laws, and industry practices. Experience in collection reporting and analytics preferred.

  • Experience and/or understanding with the following software and systems; Microsoft Power BI, R, Python, SQL, Microsoft Visual Basic (VBA)

  • Intermediate understanding of database architecture, data warehouses and related applications/tools/skills used for business data collection, organization, analysis, modeling and report development.

  • Advanced data modeling and creating relationships between disparate data sources.

  • Strong statistical and analytical skills with experience leveraging large and complex datasets for driving business decisions.

  • Possess both the curiosity and resourcefulness needed to master complex concepts, methods, and systems to improve existing processes and develop creative solutions to new business challenges.

  • Project management and presentation skills including proposing strategic recommendations to management and clearly articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Proven experience in metric management, risk analysis, and data analytics, and forecasting.

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools and statistical analysis software.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently for timely completion.

  • Strong time management skills required to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a time sensitive environment.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

  • Interpersonal skills to represent the credit union in a positive way during member contact.

  • Excellent figure aptitude, with accuracy and attention to detail required.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Senior Vice President/Account Resolutions

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not currently responsible for the supervision of other employees.
