Quality Engineer

job summary:

A Quality Engineer is needed for an American corporation that manufactures agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery, diesel engines, drivetrains (axles, transmissions, gearboxes) used in heavy equipment, and lawn care equipment in the Ottumwa, IA area.

responsibilities:

  • Use data to investigate, contain, and resolve quality issues through root cause identification

  • Troubleshoot shop floor issues that impact both production and the customer experience.

  • Work with cross functional teams to design inherent quality validation into processes

  • Lead quality planning and execution discussions (PMFEA, Control Plan, Dimensional analysis, QIT) and maintain historical performance documentation and metrics for team

  • Lead and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) - improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, ergonomic improvement and cost reduction ideas.

  • Execute engineering workflow activities to support design and process changes

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment

Things that make a candidate stand out:

  • Work experience involving hands on use of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, DPAR, PPAP, DMAIC, Six Sigma, and 8D Problem Solving

  • Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques. (e.g. Pareto charts, histograms, pie and bar charts and control plans.)

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in welding, assembly, hydraulics, powertrain, paint, and operator stations
