Work Shift

1 - First Shift

The Cloud Engineer II is responsible for designing and implementing cloud technologies in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This position will install, integrate, and manage cloud agnostic toolsets while providing high level customer service to end users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.

  2. Build and sustain cloud best practices and governance.

    1. Design, develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with established governances.

    2. Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.

    3. Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.

    4. Ensure efficient function of cloud services in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.

    5. Interact with customers and partners, providing cloud support while evaluating and identifying optimal cloud solutions.

    6. Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.

    Education and/or Experience

  • 4-year college degree with a major in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years related cloud systems experience and/or training; and/or combination of education and experience.

  • Experience working with multiple cloud technology platforms and systems, Azure preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Understanding of DevSecOps/DevOps toolchains and integrations.

  • Working knowledge in one or more technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Kubernetes, Azure, VMWare, Windows, and Linux.

  • Knowledge in the area(s) of systems integration; understanding of computer hardware systems along with application program integration concepts.

  • Knowledge of networking protocols; knowledge of TCP/IP and networking; ability to lay out systems logically to determine how they integrate.

    Other Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of services that exist in cloud platforms.

  • Knowledge and experience with the implementation of “infrastructure as code”.

  • Knowledge and experience in the management of network and security infrastructure and automated server deployments.

    • Ability to provide excellent customer service; availability to be on-call for serious problems during off-shift hours is required, e.g., ability to respond within a 30-minute timeframe when on-call.
  • Ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.

  • Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstration of strong organizational skills; ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

    Travel

Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

Work Location

HYBRID: Some of a team member’s day-to-day work may be best done at a location other than a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager.
