The Commercial Business Manager is responsible for leading a market business global sales growth strategy, which includes regional entity plans, corporate account goals and objectives, and a comprehensive approach to managing industry associations and technical affiliations. This position is ultimately responsible for sales, P&L performance and projections, strategic planning, sales and distribution support for the assigned business unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
On a global level, gain and maintain a deep understanding of market, customers, and competition within business unit assigned including market research, customer VOC visits, association participation, management of segment focus groups, etc. Be the internal champion for the assigned market and the external face of Vermeer to the industry.
Manage the global sales strategy for assigned business unit including but not limited to short term and long term business and strategic planning, financial goal setting management, product management, marketing, and sales support strategies. Work with internal team members and dealers to address opportunities for distribution improvement.
Manage business unit sales and marketing activities; support dealerships through sales programs, training and product support, and production forecasting.
Manage assigned personnel in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, hiring, evaluation, scheduling work activities, discipline and discharge; establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives; assist in the accomplishment of team goals.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in Business Management or Engineering
10 years experience in sales, marketing operations, product development and/or distribution management experience, including calling on major accounts; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum of 7 years previous management experience.
A financial background and experience in forecasting are required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Strong networking skills as demonstrated by establishing new industry connections, nurturing existing relationships, and representation of Vermeer at various industry events such as association meeetings, trade shows, customer events, and dealership engagements.
Understanding of a business function and ability to effectively influence, if required, the engineering, service, warranty functions.
Ability to effectively manage product strategy areas; ability to think strategically.
Understanding of the external market and customer requirements in the assigned areas.
Demonstration of technical skills, establishing P&L, reading and working with financial statements, developing business plans, engineering processes, etc.
Ability to research and analyze market and business information and present to appropriate audience.
Demonstration of strong organizational skills.
Demonstration of excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to direct assigned staff in the performance of duties such that performance meets or exceeds expectations; ability to perform human resources management duties of recruiting, development, effective delegation, implementation of policy, discipline, management of professionals, within Vermeer’s code of conduct and corporate guidelines.
Ability to work with others in the attainment of duties and organization goals.
Ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.
Up to 75% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
