Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician I – Equipment Maintenance performs basic equipment support operations under the guidance of more senior team members. This position works on basic repair and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electrical systems on production equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Perform and accurately record scheduled preventative maintenance procedures on a variety of equipment including, but not limited to, hoists, paint systems, machining centers and weld systems.

  3. Create a positive customer experience when working with operators, leaders, and peers.

  4. Accurately enter data into maintenance business system (Thrive).

  5. Perform basic maintenance functions of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical repair in partnership with or under the guidance of managers or senior/experienced maintenance technicians.

    Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • 0-2 years experience in basic trades (maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electrical systems electrical).

  • Previous electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and/or pneumatic experience preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

-Basic math skills.

  • Read blueprints and electrical schematics.

  • Write routine reports and intra-department communications.

  • Calculate figures and apply concepts of fractions, percentages and ratios.

  • Apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistical quality control.

  • Effectively present information verbally and written and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customer, and dealers.

  • Perform basic Microsoft Office skills, CAD and other software.

  • Perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.

  • Learn to operate the CMM.

  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
