1 - First Shift

The Sr. Talent Development Specialist – Vermeer University assesses, designs, implements, facilitates, and evaluates training and development programs for team members worldwide, based on strategic needs assessments and gap analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.

  2. Demonstrate functional excellence: use HR expertise to meet the talent needs of the organization, understand and use business insights to impact results, and provide influential guidance and support that protects the long-term success.

    1. Consult with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to assess learning needs and develop plans based on those needs. Carefully consider unarticulated needs to not only meet, but exceed, expectations.

    2. Develop training and training programs in partnership with subject matter experts using adult learning methodology to create, develop, and format training materials for a variety of delivery methods, including in-person and virtual instructor-led training and e-learning. Carefully consider existing training and ensure alignment to overall curriculum.

    3. Assess and select materials, courses, and/or tools from external sources to supplement internally-developed training.

    4. Facilitate both in-person and virtual instructor-led training according to the plan to a wide variety of participants.

    5. Employ robust evaluation methods linked to adult learning to assess the effectiveness and relevancy of existing training and development programs; adjust training plan as needed to further drive effectiveness.

    6. Lead projects or cross-functional teams to accomplish work in the talent development space, and/or the broader human resource function.

  • Strong technical aptitude.

    • Strong data acumen and an ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems.

    • A curiosity for knowledge in various types of technology and the ability to learn their concepts quickly.

    • Knowledge of adult learning methodology, human performance technology, education, facilitation, evaluation, and instructional design processes.

    • Ability to develop high-quality, engaging training material and effectively use tools available to maximize learner participation.

    • Ability to build and maintain positive interpersonal relationships across the organization, including leadership, subject matter experts, participants and stakeholders.

    • Ability to respond to changing priorities to meet customer demands.

    • Ability to engage classroom participants with exceptional facilitation skills during training, evaluate if learners are comprehending the material, and adjust the material as needed.

    • Ability to take complex topics or tasks and break them down for the learners and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.


  • Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

    Additional Skills and Abilities: Experience using tools such as SOLIDWORKS and/or SOLIDWORKS PDM preferred.

    Work Location

    HYBRID: Some of a team member’s day-to-day work may be best done at a location other than a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager.
