Description

Robert Half Finance & Accounting is looking for a Chief Accounting Officer with a Financial Services & Insurance organization in the Sioux City, IA area. Our client is looking for a seasoned, high-level individual that has had extensive experience leading Financial & Accounting staff as well as 10+ years of overall progressive Accounting experience. Financial Services and/or Insurance industry experience is highly preferred, but in-depth experience at a Controller/Director/C-Suite level and above can take precedent if no applicable industry experience. This role has remote capabilities throughout the week - maybe a day or two a week - but otherwise will be largely in office. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act a s a key member of the Senior Management team with a focus on company strategy and general management of the company and financial staff

  • Responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company

  • Responsible for oversight of to review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Oversight of all budgeting activities, including consolidation and presentation to Board members and key Executive leaders both financial and non-financial

  • Structure spreadsheet design and compile financial data with overall spreadsheet design and maintenance

  • Involved in discussions regarding all financial decisions and long-term financial impact on the organization

  • Prepare final consolidated and accurate reports for Senior Management, Owners, Financial Service Agents, External Auditors, and Regulatory Authorities

  • Responsible for distribution of all quarterly and annual reporting requirements

  • Develop and enact training, leadership and staff development for all direct and some indirect reports relevant to the Chief Accounting Officer position

  • Oversee internal controls for financial and corporate governance compliance

  • Develop and execute long-term financial planning and direction of the company. Develop action plans and strategy reports to lead, direct, and organize company initiatives.

    Requirements

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

  • CPA license required

  • 10+ years high-level Accounting, Finance, and overall company management experience

  • Several years of experience within Financial Services or Insurance highly preferred

  • Knowledge of property/casualty insurance company operations within Accounting a plus

  • Effective communication working with C-Suite and Executive level individuals

  • Experience working with enterprise-wide ERP and Accounting systems. Ability to enact process improvements and automations within these systems.
