The Employee Relations Partner is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the employee relations function for assigned business unit/service line. Administration includes consultation on employee relations issues for team members and leadership and facilitation of initiatives to foster a positive employee relations environment that aligns with UnityPoint Health’s FOCUS Values and Just Culture. This individual is responsible for employee relations investigations and reporting, identifying and recommending solutions, and providing ongoing documentation as appropriate.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Helps to maintain a positive employee relations climate by proactively providing guidance to leaders and responding to team member inquiries.
Ensure timely and compliant handling of all assigned grievance, discipline and policy interpretation requests and provide advice and counsel to team members.
Works collaboratively with team members and departmental leadership in carrying out their responsibilities on employee relations matters.
Participates in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and employee appeals and grievances.
Responds effectively to employee relations queries, including questions on policies and practices.
Serve as Common Ground facilitator
Recognizes patterns and anticipates employee-related issues; develops, recommends, and initiates appropriate steps for resolution in accordance with policies and procedures
Provides guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to leaders and team members; helps team members and leaders settle work-related conflicts through advice and guidance
Partners with the Law Department in conducting employee relations investigations
Identifies and recommends solutions when repetition of individual problems indicate negative trends, including disciplinary and commendatory actions
Monitors trends and themes within departments and collaborates with the HRBP and DEI team as appropriate.
Documents all employee relations matters as appropriate for the situation and in accordance with legal compliance and organizational policies and procedures
Identifies and works collaboratively with HRBP to recommend retention strategies to departments and leaders.
Assists leaders with drafting and revision of coaching and disciplinary documentation as appropriate. Log and track employee relations implements retention strategies and positive employee relations initiatives as designated
Consults with Human Resources Business Partner on employee relations issues as needed
Participates in the development and delivery of training; Assists in communication of policies and procedures
Stay current on state employment and labor practices. Ensure workplace policies are current and in compliance with applicable local laws and notify management of regulatory changes. Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and avoid/eliminate exposure to the organization
Utilizes the Just Culture Framework and DEI principles for decision making and coaches back to leaders to leverage similar tools and resources.
Lead the ADA interactive process with team members and partner with Employee Health to support the ADA Interactive process and assist with finding light duty work.
As needed, work with Employee Health on fit for duty conversations and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as needed.
Assist with action needed as a result of team member non-compliance with employee health requirements.

Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Minimum Requirements

Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
Experience:
· 3+ years’ experience of Employee Relations experience required, including conducting investigations.
License(s)/Certification(s):
· Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Other:
· Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
