Compensation starting at $19.70 per/hour with the potential of going up to $24.18
The purpose of this position is to assist in operating and maintaining the plant. Individuals in this position have shared responsibility for housekeeping with all departments and with minimal supervision. Interacts on a regular basis with operators, supervisors, customers and other personnel.
This is an entry level position. Employees fulfilling this position will be expected to move up to a Department Operator position within a few months
As a Utility Operator, you will:
Responsible for day to day operations of the plant, including grain handling. Operate all equipment associated with the department assigned to, including railcar opener, oil loadout spout, scales, drags and conveyors.
Work indoors and outdoors in a dusty environment.
Enter confined spaces under proper permit conditions and supervision: including dust collectors, extractors, DT (Desolventizer-Toaster), meal dryers and bean tanks.
Control traffic through department and ensure that all visitors follow safety rules.
Troubleshoot problems as required.
Perform light maintenance, such as replacing valves, troubleshooting conveyors and pumps, etc. while safely using wrenches, air tools, hammers and various hand tools.
Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.
Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long range needs for maintenance and repair work. Enter notifications utilizing maintenance computer program.
Understand and adhere to state and federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety. Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations.
Complete all housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of the department, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.
Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.
Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and will perform any other duty as requested by the production supervisor.
Operators in this position will use company vehicle, multiple hand tools including shovels, PPE and industrial vehicles including forklift, boom lift, bobcat and loader to assist with job duties.

Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Must be able to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)
High School diploma or GED Equivalent.
Basic computer skills.
Must be able and willing to perform physical job duties with or without reasonable accommodation: bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling, twisting. and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts with advance notice.
Forklift and Boom Lift driving experience
Prior experience in a production related work.
Previous maintenance experience
