Field Technician

Actalent is looking for a full-time Field Technician to support our client, a leading local civil engineering firm, onsite in Urbandale, IA.

Description:

The Field Technician will be traveling through Des Moines and visit different construction sites where they will be conducting material testing. Client offers solutions in a broad range of expertise, so this individual will gain exposure in geotechnical engineering, environmental site assessments, and construction quality control.

• Construction Field Technician duties include Material Testing for Aggregate, Soil, Asphalt, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), Concrete, and Steel.

• Visit multiple job sites a day. Will also potentially be interacting with other contractors/project owners.

• Collect samples of soil or concrete.

• Complete foundation testing and look at reinforcing steel to be in compliance with shop drawings.

• Complete concrete testing.

• Log and track the numbers from the machines when testing the concrete and soil.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid drivers license and clean MVR.

• 6+ months experience testing IBC materials (concrete and soil) or 1 year in outdoor construction work preferred.

• Able to work outdoor in elements and in a team environment.
