Brokers International New Business Manager in Urbandale, Iowa

We are looking for a New Business Manager responsible for the two new business teams at Brokers International: Annuities and Life. This role will have 8 to 12 direct reports who are responsible for case management. Case management includes working directly with insurance carriers, our wholesalers and downline agents as well as other departments at BI.

In this role you will:

  • Manages day to day functions of the team including scheduling, regular meetings with team members, workload assignments and ensuring quality and time standards are within Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). Will set clear expectations for team members and provide coaching as needed.

  • Understand current team goals and lead the process of amending or creating new goals that move the teams forward. Responsible for timely communication of weekly and monthly results to internal partners and team to ensure all impacted parties are aware of trends, progress against. Create reporting that tells the new business story in a way that is automated and/or sustainable and allows partners to understand success and opportunities on the teams.

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement so team members are engaged in changes that simplify our work and improve the customer and employee experience. Lead project improvement efforts that can be handled within the team and champion efforts that require technical or vendor support.

  • Ensure training and onboarding plans are in place for new and existing employees including the onboarding checklist and ensuring appropriate materials and documentation is current and available. Track progress of new employees, ensure they’re getting feedback and coaching and find ways to simplify the training experience.

  • Create strong partnerships with BI Sales VP’s and other internal customers, build relationships with external partners including agencies and downline agents as well as carriers.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience or demonstrate leadership within prior individual contributor roles. Requires a strong understanding of the financial services industry including Life Insurance and Annuities.

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year College or university; and 5 years progressive experience or a mixture of both.
