As an Product Safety Engineer – Autonomy for the Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Urbandale, IA , you will
Be part of the core team tasked with delivering Deere’s first autonomous solution systems.
Be responsible for the discovery and mitigation of safety risks with autonomous solutions.
Collaborate with team members to understand proposed functionalities and impacts to safety, system compliance to safety standards, and consistency with other autonomous solutions within John Deere.
Lead Safety Reviews and other safety analyses with cross functional teams to rank and mitigate potentially unsafe designs.
Deliver regular reviews to Safety Committees of upcoming functionality through meetings and sustainable documentation techniques.

What Skills You Need
Experience analyzing subsystems (FMEA, FTA, STPA) to decompose behaviors into a set of testable requirements.
Experience with product safety processes such as ISO 25119, ISO 26262 or ISO 13849
Experience Lead Safety Reviews and other safety analyses with cross functional teams to rank and mitigate potentially unsafe designs.
Domain knowledge of vehicle systems such as tractors, sprayers, harvesters, tillage, etc. or similar (automotive, off road)
Knowledge of complex vehicle level electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical control systems.
Domain knowledge precision ag products or similar such as automotive, off road vehicle systems in the agriculture, construction or on road spaces
Strong ability to interface with stakeholders and customers across the country
Experience analyzing subsystems to ensure a complete solution.
Experience with product safety processes.

Experience with machine learning and computer vision systems.
Understanding of autonomous system safety standards.
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Agricultural, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
