Your Responsibilities
As a Drivetrain Assembly Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Waterloo Works in Waterloo, IA , you will provide daily support and basic trouble shooting for current assembly operations which include investigating, gathering and analyzing data and implement solutions. In addition, you will...
Support the continuous improvement process by developing manufacturing process and tooling solutions that improve safety, ergonomics, quality, and costs
Participate in the development of department line balances and layouts following the Line Balance as a Process and Flow Line Design guidelines
Actively support operator certification by ensuring training rigor and evaluating proficiency to engineered standards
Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs
Maintain the accuracy of process documentation through verification auditing and updating for process improvements
Participate in analysis, development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology
Develop, maintain and improve operations layouts to improve material flow and material presentation
Implement new/improved manufacturing processes and technology
Support and participate in departmental CI Grow & Natural Work Group activities
Provide daily shop floor support

What Skills You Need
We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. In addition, we require:
Majoring in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related technical field.
Graduation date of 2026 or later
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
Manufacturing engineering experience obtained through projects, internships or practical work experience
Experience in shop floor environment and exposure to continuous improvement process
Experience troubleshooting manufacturing issues and determining root cause
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate with both salary and wage workforce
Ability and willingness to work off-shift hours (occasional) in support of production and equipment installation
Ability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours per week during summer break
What Makes You Stand Out
Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:
Experience in assembly manufacturing engineering
Experience developing work instructions, Operator Method Sheets(OMS), assembly manufacturing processes, tooling and/or equipment
Experience with the following software programs: ProE, AutoCAD, Creo, JDAAT, MPP, DG3
Experience with Industrial Engineering basic motion, time study, and line balancing
Experience with shop floor manufacturing incentive pay systems
Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium scope projects
Experience with precision assembly methods
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Ag, Industrial or Systems) or Technology (Manufacturing, Industrial, Systems)
