Position Overview:Responsible for all duties relating to training of new employees and existing staff.

    Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective and engaging in-person and virtual performance-based technical and non-technical training programs to incorporate business strategies, competencies, and professional developmental needs.

  • Analyze specific employee results based on training programs.

  • Partner with system personnel and management regarding various needs and training revisions.

  • Provide feedback to learners and their managers. Use this evaluation and feedback to upgrade materials.

  • Responsible for the instruction of all required Building Blocks courses in the training program including installation, troubleshooting, demonstration of proper ladder usage, safety procedures, basic CATV theory, proprietary software, soft skills, sales/retention of Mediacom products and services, etc.

  • Must be able to perform and demonstrate correct ladder and pole climbing techniques (including gaffing) and can work at varying heights.

  • Perform and demonstrate the ability to build strand, lash coaxial and fiber optic cables, set bonds, build risers, and do pole transfers.

  • Perform and demonstrate the ability to splice active plant with AC, splice and activate new HFC and Fiber Optic plant, and understand system prints.

  • Responsible for training all aspects of safety.

  • Supervise employees during training sessions by tracking attendance, controlling behavior and documenting performance and development needs.

  • Administer learning schedules, calendar, exams and maintain participant test scores and evaluations in the learning management system.

  • Responsible for the outstanding appearance and maintenance of the training facilities including classroom and outside installation practice / lab areas.

  • Communicate and work with other department leadership and staff trainers, as needed.

  • Strenuous physical activity will be required for the frequent handling of heavy objects (approximately 50-100 lbs.) and materials or heavy hand tools. It will be necessary to transport these objects to/from the classroom and demonstrate proper use.

  • Keep inventory of training manuals and materials.

  • Perform technician field ride along on a regular basis.

  • Attend technician tailgate meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

    Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in Electronics preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in all aspects of Cable TV. (Will consider less years of experience for internal candidates)

  • Prior experience in training and/or conducting presentations is preferred .

  • Ability to bring information, knowledge and experience together in a logical format and train it in a classroom environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.

  • Detail oriented, strong organizational and follow-through skills are required.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Mediacom products, services, infrastructure and programs.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and overtime, as required.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% to meet the needs of training requests, including by air .

  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
