TelCom Construction Utility Construction Foreman in Waterloo, Iowa

Looking for your next career move in one of the largest growing industries in the country? TelCom Construction is a turn-key telecommunications contractor hiring a full-time Crew Foreman. The Crew Foreman leads and maintains safe and efficient operation of their assigned crew.

What will you do?

  • Provide communication and direction to crew members

  • Implement and perform steps to complete jobs in a timely manner

  • Performing duties of operator and/or laborer

  • Operate construction equipment such as a mini excavator, dump truck, skid loader, etc

  • Setting daily production goals

  • Conducting daily walk-throughs

  • Ensuring DOT documentation

  • Monitoring and adhering to all safety processes and procedures including completion of Job Task Safety Analyses (JTSA) as required

  • Conducting weekly tool box talks

  • Maintaining and submitting required reporting

  • Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic

  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar position with a focus on crew leadership is required

  • Experience in the telecommunications construction field is highly preferred

  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give descriptive and respectful direction

  • Must be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities

  • Must have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Must be very safety conscientious

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with crew, customers and vendors

  • Basic computer skills required, experience with Google apps a plus

  • Valid drivers license required with a good driving record is required

  • Unrestricted Class A CDL is a plus (Higher wage scale apply to CDL holders)

  • May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed

  • Travel may be required

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance

  • Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift

  • Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat

  • Remote work may be required - long driving and sitting will be requiredin these instances

  • Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed

  • Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens

  • The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate to loud

  • All work is outdoors so employees in this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
