Waverly Health Center Technician-Environmental Services 1.0 FTE 1st shift in Waverly, Iowa

SCHEDULE FTE: 1.0, 1st shift

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, safe, and sanitary condition. Such duties may include cleaning and servicing areas throughout the building, processing and distributing washable linen or other laundry items, and assisting in reporting any maintenance needs throughout facility to Plant Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education, Experience, and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

  • Must possess valid Iowa driver’s license where applicable and an acceptable driving record.

  • Must have the ability to work independently, portray a professional image, and sensitivity toward patient needs.

  • Previous experience in the areas of Environmental Services is preferred.

  • Must be willing to obtain HazMat certification at either the Awareness or Operations Level.

  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.

  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

  • Physical Requirements

  • Sitting – Not a requirement.

  • Standing – Approximately 50% of shift.

  • Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.

  • Lifting – Approximately 50 pounds.

  • Twisting – Infrequent.

  • Bending – Moderate.

  • Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities.

  • The possibility exists of exposure to communicable disease due to working in a healthcare environment.

  • Involvement in patient care may result in unavoidable work-related illnesses.
