Raytheon Technologies Additive Manufacturing Engineer in West Des Moines, Iowa

The Manufacturing Engineer within the Additive Value Stream at Collins Aerospace is responsible for all manufacturing engineering activities within a new, state-of-the-art additive manufacturing facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements facility layouts, material handling solutions, and sequence of operations for additive manufacturing, post processing, & conventional manufacturing processes.

  • Design, manufacture and/or procure tooling for both additive & conventional manufacturing processes.

  • Plans sequence of operations, authors work instructions and procedures for both development and production processes.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that leverage statistical process control to meet internal and external quality requirements.

  • Provides guidance to various engineering disciplines regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize in-house & supply chain capabilities.

  • Helps to support existing product line design activities and/or operational process modifications to help enhance products and processes and ensure that current and future business needs are met.

  • Leads continuous improvement efforts within the value stream to reduce cost of poor quality and increase productivity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Must be a US person.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion

  • 1+ years of experience with 1 or more special process, including heat treat & quench, electrical discharge machining, metallurgical & mechanical testing.

  • 1+ years supporting production of large (100+ lbs) fabrications, castings, forgings, etc.

  • M.S. Suite of Software proficiency

  • Demonstrated ability to create work instructions

  • Knowledge and application of CNC machining
