Cloud Platform Principal Engineer

As a Cloud Platform Principal Engineer in the Healthcare IT industry, you will be embarking on a transformation to the Cloud. As a member of our Foundational and Core Services Enablement team, you will evaluate Cloud technologies and drive adoption by helping lead teams through a transformational journey.

The Cloud Platform Principal Engineer works with the business and technology stakeholders on the development and delivery of end-to-end application technology products and services for enterprise-wide technology application platforms that are aligned with the organization's strategic objectives and initiatives.

Location: Indianapolis, IN preferred. Alternate locations may be considered. This position will work in a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

NOTE: US Citizenship is required for this position.

How you will make an impact:

  • Works with stakeholders to establish the overall applications architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged in a multi-product environment.

  • Recommends new technology solutions and products are delivered to stakeholders and align with enterprise strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technology to define business requirements.

  • Demonstrating maturity and expertise of one or more of the following CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the perspective technology stack.

  • Articulating advanced multiple cloud environment infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Backups, DR, and Monitoring)

  • Demonstrate and lead the development of key DevOps patterns like Infrastructure-as-Code principles.

  • Leads development of CI/CD and DevOps best practices and compliance for application release and deployment through leading other various team members.

  • Assesses the compatibility and integration of solutions and products; performs technical design reviews and code reviews, including cloud-based architecture and integrations.

  • Works with IT to lead IT Business Transformation application architecture strategy and vision.

  • Provides continuous consulting services and direction on projects.

  • Is responsible for and champions architectural standards, guidelines, principles, frameworks, and reference models; Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture).

  • Ensure documents (e.g. Runbooks) for Ops and drive architectural best practices on AWS, Azure or GCP.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study and a minimum of 11 years experience; multi-dimensional platform experience, expert level experience with business and technical applications; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position as it will support the Department of Defense Military OneSource program.

  • Ability to speak fluent English.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, & Experiences:

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional highly preferred (GCP and Azure certifications will also be considered)

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with AWS or cloud platforms

  • 2-4 years of experience in architecting DevOps-based CI/CD deployment pipelines.

  • 1-3 years experience architecting a Service Catalog required, with Terraform Enterprise experience.

  • 3-4 years of experience with Source Code Management and branching usage.

  • Production experience in large environments using automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CFT.

  • Experience in re-architecting on-prem applications and migrating them to any/all CSPs infrastructure.

  • Off-hours availability when necessary

  • Hashicorp Terraform Certification desired.

  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in software development experience preferred.

  • 2-3 years of experience with Event-driven, Micro-services, and Serverless development patterns in the Public Cloud preferred (AWS preferred).

  • Be able to articulate advanced multiple cloud environment infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Backups, DR, and Monitoring)
