Purpose:
This Finance Director will lead a team of financial analysts who act as partners to various business leaders and are responsible for budgeting, analysis, and reporting of the company’s operating expenses.
This is a fast-paced role with broad visibility and interaction with senior management, including opportunities to develop valuable accounting and analytical expertise.
Accountabilities:
Collaborate cross-functionally throughout the business to budget, analyze, and track operating expenses and ensure appropriate accounting measures are taken
Principal authority on all operating expense items, including a thorough understanding of expense trends and variance analysis
Developing, recommending, and implementing improvements to the budget and analysis process
Partner with the Actuarial team to incorporate budget and forecast updates into pricing studies
Communicating and presenting expense trends and variances to executive management
Supporting the process of quarter-end close, monthly analysis, and project management
Broad understanding of the company's legal entity structure including cost sharing arrangements for appropriate entity-level reporting
Ensure strong liaison relationships with department leadership and Finance and Actuarial teams
Reviews and provides guidance with finance business partners on deep dive analysis of specific targeted line items and expense categories
Qualifications and Experience:
7+ years of directly related technical experience required
4+ years of people leadership experience required
The selected candidate will have increased responsibility of related analysis experience in accounting or auditing, financial services experience
Proven experience developing and leading a team of finance professionals
Success in leading process improvement and automation
Ability to translate complex analysis and recommendations into simple communication
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
CPA preferred
Experience with EssBase queries and Hyperion Planning preferred
Understanding of GAAP and STAT expense reporting fundamentals preferred
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
