We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Health Solution Sales (HealthPartners UnityPoint Health). This position is responsible for building and maintaining HealthPartners UnityPoint Health (HPUPH) Plan block of business in Iowa and eastern Illinois, and assuring that HealthPartners' culture, value proposition and brand promise are carried out in the region. The person filling this role is responsible for directing and managing health solutions sales activities with the purpose of procuring and maintaining membership related to the products that HPUPH markets in the region. This will include large commercial groups and Medicare advantage products.
A successful background of managing and developing sales personnel
Demonstrated experience meeting and exceeding sales growth goals and retaining customers
At least five years of successful large group health insurance experience
A successful track record of working with brokers, consultants, labor or employer group representatives
Successful completion of at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
Collaborative work orientation and collegial working relationships
Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, sales & customer service environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive and confidential information
Execution of a HealthPartners Non-Competition Agreement
Participation in a confidential assessment by an industrial psychologist prior to initiation of employment
The ability to attain licensure to sell health insurance and health plan administration in Iowa, Illinois and other states, and actual attainment of both a Iowa and Illinois Health Insurance Licensure within 2 months of initial employment.
Knowledge of customer expectations and requirements for growth success in Medicare Advantage products.
Knowledge of and experience selling dental insurance products
Knowledge of and experience selling health and well-being solutions
Strong relationships and experience related to the Large Commercial Group Sector and Medicare Advantage products.
Previous organizational leadership experience
Business, finance or health-related experience
Strong knowledge of HPUPH, HealthPartners’ and affiliate company operations
Growth (new sales and retention) of all HPUPH product lines (health solutions).
Management and supervision of staff. In consultation with the HPUPH President/VP, the position will hire and release, discipline and discharge, promote, train, reward and review performance of employees.
Team organization & development, including execution of HealthPartners’s adopted tools and approaches for sales and customer service. Experience is an important part of HPUPH brand.
Develop and maintain relationships with lead advisors on accounts and prospective accounts, including regular meetings where HPUPH solutions are shared.
Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers and benefit personnel of prospective accounts, including regular meetings where HPUPH solutions are shared.
Strategic and tactical planning for large commercial groups and Medicare Advantage products and execution of those plans using assigned staff.
Oversight of account service, meeting customer expectations and upholding HPUPH high standards related to existing customer satisfaction
Representation of HPUPH as it pertains to prospect, client and broker meetings.
Advocacy and support of product development needs related to assigned market segments
Currently these product lines include the following
Medical plans and medical plan administration (including FSA administration, HSA administration, HRA administration, etc.)
Dental plans and dental plan administration
Care support solutions (a.k.a. utilization management, disease management, case management, health advocacy, etc.)
Stop loss insurance coverage
Health and well-being solutions, some of which may involve collaboration with partners like UnityPoint Health
Work site health solutions (i.e. EAP, managed workers compensation solutions, work comp bill review, FMLA administration, etc.) which may be sold and delivered in collaboration with UnityPoint@Work and other UnityPoint solutions
Initiation of sales, particularly with large or key accounts in the region, from time to time. These may be done in conjunction with other sales team members.
HPUPH and HealthPartners Leadership
Participation in monthly Sales meetings, including the monthly Marketing, Sales Underwriting (MSU) meeting
Participate in HealthPartners –UnityPoint Health joint leadership meetings, as needed
Representation of Health Solutions Sales in the underwriting and rating process
Representation of HPUPH at community functions
Overall Health Solutions Department Leadership participation
Ensures compliance to organizational and departmental policies and procedures
