UnityPoint Health Manager of Pharmacy 340B in West Des Moines, Iowa

Remote within UPH footprint of IA and WI


The Manager 340B Program leads a team of 340B Specialist to deliver a compliant and optimized 340B program for all UPH covered entities (CEs). The 340B Program Manager will develop and implement best practices to ensure tasks are done consistently for all CEs. This position is responsible for identifying root causes to common compliance issues and opportunities to further optimize the program.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Manage 340B team to ensure achievement of organizational and departmental goals through organizing, implementing and monitoring processes.

  • Ensures assigned function(s) in the 340B Department are performed in accordance with federal, state and/or hospital requirements.

  • Responsible for monitoring and recommending adjustments to department practices to ensure compliance with applicable certification, licensure, and accreditation requirements.

  • Investigates budget variance and initiates corrective actions when necessary.

  • Supervises team by motivating, mentoring, coaching and providing guidance to team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services. Facilitates the ongoing learning, well-being, professional satisfaction and development of staff through training, work assignments, increased responsibility, and mentoring.

  • Ensures team members carry out assigned tasks in a timely and consistent manner

  • Coordinates work among team members to ensure each person’s strengths are used to their fullest extent

Quality Improvement

  • Reviews monthly audit results and trends and coordinates necessary process changes to improve compliance demonstrated by audit results

  • Performs root-cause analyses on ineligible claims and audit findings and works with the Ambulatory Director to develop and implement solutions

  • Coordinates program improvement and growth efforts

  • Creates and manages action plans for each entity’s annual external audit.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Ensures each CE’s performance is reported out to appropriate stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Reports monthly financial and audit trends to the 340B Steering Committee


  • PharmD


  • 3-5 years’ experience with the 340B program

  • Leadership experience


  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

  • Current license to practice pharmacy

  • 340B Apexus Certified Expert (Preferred)
