As part of the Distribution Strategy team, the Program Manager role is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and ongoing oversight of Athene’s automated retail annuity producer activation marketing programs. This individual should be a self-starter with highly effective communication skills, a strong understanding of the financial services industry, target audiences and marketing lead generation approaches. This individual should be data and results driven, constantly monitoring effectiveness of marketing programs, and collaborating to optimize and improve program(s) ROI. The position will work cross functionally with marketing SMEs to define, build, execute and optimize our lead generation strategies, possessing the ability to rally project teams around a shared vision and driving alignment with stakeholders.


  • Recommend, define, and build high-level strategy & roadmap for producer activation marketing programs, aligned to business strategy & sales objectives.

  • Design and final accountability of the program architecture and outcomes in collaboration with a core team of marketing SMEs.

  • Continuously monitor KPI’s and optimize marketing programs to ensure investment in program(s) is delivering value/revenue.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of prospect/producer behavior by channel and actively analyze program results to develop recommendations for new program strategies and existing program enhancements.

  • Champion alignment between marketing team & sales to drive significant usage of lead programs, ensuring leads generated are followed up on and providing ongoing training to sales partners.

  • Manage and drive accountability to a framework where marketing receives regular feedback on the quality of programs and leads generated for continuous improvement.

  • Develop a strong understanding of existing automated marketing programs and processes, owning the evolution of those to align with programs strategy.

  • Work cross functionally with stakeholders to define and develop ‘rules of prioritization’ for instances where a producer may be eligible for more than one marketing program/lead generation effort.

  • Partner across Marketing and Sales teams on sales enablement solutions that align our content strategy and lead generation programs, driving the most effective conversion rates from MQLs to SQLs.

  • Primary accountability for driving qualified leads into our sales partners hands, ensuring follow up from Sales and driving a closed loop, continuous improvement model to increase the velocity of the Marketing & Sales funnel.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience required.

  • Seven (7+) years of experience in marketing, sales and/or related business experience.

  • Experience in the financial services and/or annuity industry highly desired.

  • Proven understanding of marketing best practices with ability to develop and optimize lead generation strategies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge (or ability to rapidly develop) an in-depth understanding of retail sales channels, audience needs, producer acquisition and key moments of influence in the sales process.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to create and articulate business cases and rally team members around a common goal.

  • A highly analytical mind, with passion and experience in using audience analysis, data and insights to monitor and optimize marketing initiatives.

  • Ability to build rapport, collaborate and influence at multiple levels within an organization.

  • Strong project management disciplines. Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver results on time and on budget.

  • Highly effective problem resolution, analytical and organizational skills. Ability to identify and create strategic solutions and define a path forward in moments of ambiguity.

  • Eager to own the creation of a strategic vision and rally team members around a common goal.

  • Ability to travel occasionally – less than 5% of time.
