UnityPoint Health Provider Compensation Analyst in West Des Moines, Iowa

Provider Compensation Analyst


Monday- Friday, 8a-5p

Full-Time Benefits, 40 hours/ Week

Can sit remote in Des Moines, Iowa

The Provider Compensation Analyst works with the Provider Compensation team to ensure the accurate administration of compensation and payroll for all UPC employed and PBB physicians and advanced practitioners. Also providing analysis and modeling for multiple departments of proposed changes, determining impact on compensation and budget.

Compensation Analysis

  • Prepare and distribute monthly proformas and other production reports to regional operations leadership.

  • Performs monthly and off cycle recalculations.

  • Provides analytic support and modeling for related changes in compensation, work assignments and short-term disability.

  • Updates and maintains master database that houses all pertinent information specific to employed physician and advanced practitioner compensation, including contract terms.

  • Ensures UnityPoint Clinic’s provider compensation plans accurately reflect current policy and make edits as needed.

  • Assists with performance payout calculations for staff and providers as needed.

  • Supports the bi-annual provider compensation recalculations as needed.

Provider Compensation Administration & Payroll Processing

  • Calculates and processes status changes, pay rate changes, alternate rates and other pay related entries into software for UPC employed and PBB physicians and advanced practitioners.

  • Validates payroll on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Calculates and processes monthly productivity payments.

  • Troubleshoots errors in provider’s compensation. This may include working with a physician, APP or Director on the collection of funds paid in error.

  • Departmental Support

  • Coordinates compensation changes with operational teams.

  • Establish effective mechanisms of communication with providers, the organization’s management team and other departments within UPH.

  • Be aware of what is happening in department and the organization by attending department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organization’s intranet site.

  • Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business or related field


  • Two years’ experience performing statistical research and analyses.

  • Experience with provider compensation and health care preferred.

  • Experience with Lawson and Kronos a plus.


  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.


  • Knowledge of general computer systems and application, and strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Access and required.

  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics to analyze statistical data.

  • Knowledge of statistical and computer modeling techniques.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.

  • Requires highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively work with all levels of employees throughout UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.

  • Candidate must have a strong attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Experience with SharePoint and PowerPoint useful.
