Purpose:

The Senior Manager Suitability position leads a team of Suitability Representatives who complete suitability reviews and handle inbound/outbound phone calls from producers, back offices, and customers.

Accountabilities:

  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the Suitability team to ensure transactions, tasks and phone calls are performed quickly and accurately.

  • Provide leadership for the team by: establishing performance expectations, mentoring and coaching, driving results, sharing strategic direction and communicating effectively.

  • Develop a clear and complete understanding of Suitability rules and regulations

  • Analyze, enhance, and manage the capacity of the team to improve operating efficiencies.

  • Monitor service levels, adjusting workflows and/or resources to meet performance standards.

  • Assist in handling exceptions, complicated technical or complaint cases, while weighing compliance, business risks, tax and legal ramifications and administrative costs.

  • Manage escalated producer and key distribution partner situations promptly and professionally, with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Be an active member of the leadership team to establish department goals, objectives, and strategic direction.

  • Support the implementation of new products, initiatives and/or technologies by assisting and/or leading special projects within the department.

  • Build and maintain strong working internal relationships with Compliance, Operations, Business Relationship Managers and Sales.

  • Leverage external relationships with industry peers and key distribution partners

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3+ years technical/professional experience and 2+ years of management/supervisory experience required.

  • Experience with annuities and or financial services products required.

  • Knowledge of annuity administration systems

  • Expertise with Annuity New Business and/or Suitability is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate and function as a strategic partner on the leadership team.

  • Communicate effectively using verbal and written methods.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
