Aston Carter Tax Manager in West Des Moines, Iowa

Description:

  • The Tax Manager is responsible for the corporate income taxes including quarterly and year-end tax provisions, tax returns and related work papers, estimated tax payments, extensions, tax planning, and various tax projects and research.

  • Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action, and employee development.

  • Manages tax provisions and tax compliance.

  • Administers tax returns and related work papers.

  • Files extensions and quarterly estimates.

  • Reviews and administers excise tax deposits and returns.

  • Manages all state tax extensions and returns.

  • Provides tax planning and review of complex income tax returns.

  • Identifies and mitigates tax risks.

  • Interacts with external auditors related to tax provisions and disclosures.

  • Interacts with external tax advisors.

  • Responds to notices and audits requests; manages and coordinates tax audits.

  • Researches issues that may arise and participates in completing various projects.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related field of study; plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience in the financial services industry; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate (JD) specializing in tax preferred.

  • Prior experience in big four public accounting and statutory accounting experience preferred.

  • Extensive experience working with and understanding the tax code.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred...
