UHY Technology Specialist in West Des Moines, Iowa

Seeking motivated self-starter to provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for employees in person, via telephone or from remote location. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. Some paid overtime and travel required.TasksAnswer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.Prepare/Decommission hardware and peripherals for hew hires or separationsMaintain inventory.Assist with Video conferences and video meeting setupsSkillsCritical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.Computer Skills Knowledge of computer hardware and software, databases, telecommunications, wireless technology and the Internet with expertise in at least one area.Self-starter who can work independently and exercise good judgement within policy guidelines.Experience and EducationHigh School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); A+ Certification or College Course work equivalent preferred, Experience can be substituted for Certifications or coarse work, 2-3+ years in Desktop Support
