Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Principal Traffic Engineer, locates and marks City owned utilities within the Right of Way and at City facilities, uses a variety of techniques to measure utilities, maintains accurate records and documentation, and meets and coordinates with contractors, builders, engineers, etc. regarding projects.

Requirements Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of utility locating or related work experience; proficiency with PC’s and computer software and applications; possession of a valid Iowa driver’s license; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; ability to read and interpret maps and blueprints.

Civil Service Exam A Civil Service Examination will be administered for this position. All applicants submitting all required application materials and meeting the minimum qualifications for the position will be invited to participate in the written exam. The Top 25 applicants receiving a score of 70% or higher on the written exam will be invited to take part in the remainder of the Civil Service Examination, which will include an oral board interview.
The written exam is tentatively scheduled for June 22, 2023 and June 23, 2023. Oral board interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of July 10, 2023.All dates are tentative and subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Physical/Drug Test
Post offer, pre-employment physical and drug test are required.
